16th to 18th SEPTEMBER 2022
PETE CASTLE presents a concert of traditional songs and stories to illustrate different aspects of life in Georgian England.
At Belper Unitarian Chapel, Short Row, off Green Lane, Belper, DE56 1DG
Saturday 17th September 2022
7.30pm to 8.30pm (Don’t be late!)
Cost: £5 per person – pay at the door.
Booking: to reserve seats, email
dvmwhs@derbyshire.gov.uk with your name and number of seats
needed.
Accessibility: There is limited access available to wheelchair users and an
accessible toilet.
It’s an appropriate venue having been built in 1787 by Mill Owner Joseph Strutt and it has great acoustics for singing. Subjects covered in the concert will include the Mills, of course, enclosure, poaching, the transportation of convicts, slavery, Napoleon and much more. The most difficult thing is to fit it all in!
If you want to find out more Pete will have a selection of his books and CDs on sale.
(The chapel will be open for visitors in the afternoon.)
